"Sowing the Seeds of Harmony through Nature"
Please join us for our next monthly meeting on May 12th. We will have Dr Cari Peters. She will do a program on plant nutrition and soil testing.
Cari Peters is part of the 3rd generation of her family's company ― JR Peters. She is currently in charge of formula research and development and laboratory services in Allentown PA. Cari is the newest generation of blue hands constantly looking for ways to help growers feed their plants more efficiently using the many specialty formulas of Jacks fertilizers. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and a masters and PhD in plant sciences from the University of Maryland, but says she learned all she knows about fertilizer blending and the chemistry behind it from her father and grandfather.
Thank you to our Hospitality Hosts of the evening Patti Molitoris, Ton Conroy, Marie Peart and Gina Costello for the beautiful and delicious Easter treats!
Nancy Smith, the Program Chair of the Parkland Garden Club, presented a hands-on workshop in creating a fairy garden to members and guests at the April 14th meeting. Participants used their imagination to create a miniature world with pots and tiny accessories that they brought as well as colored stones provided by the club. The results were impressive! Everyone had a wonderful time at this workshop.
"Spring in my Steps" was presented by certified floral designer Patricia Reppert. PGC members and guests enjoyed her step-by-step demonstration in the creation of many Springtime floral arrangements with discussion of the flower types and techniques used to achieve the design.
Patricia found her passion in flowers and has been designing florals professionally since 2019. She obtained her Certified Floral Designer accreditation in 2021, through the American Institute of Floral Designers, and completed an apprenticeship with a highly acclaimed event florist in Philadelphia. She assists in our region’s exhibit to the Philadelphia Flower Show each year and had a featured design of her own in last year’s show. She is a freelance florist as well, and has been contracted to work on events and weddings in PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA, and DC. As a teaching assistant at Bucks County Community College's Floral Design Program she takes great pride and pleasure in sharing the joy of flowers with others through hosting design workshops and demonstrations.
A beautiful St. Patrick's themed table of delicious refreshments was provided by our Hospitality hosts Nancy Smith, Cynthia Dunton, Kendra Copley and Christine Gallina (also Deb Barhight - not shown).
The treats were enjoyed by all!
A beautiful Valentine-themed presentation of tasty treats was provided by our hosts of the evening: Candy Chorney, Vicki Sorg, Joan Balla and Nancy Shrader. Thank You!
