"Hard Shell Gourds - They're Not Just for Birdhouses"

Demonstration presented by Terry Kloiber

Most people think of typical birdhouses when someone mentions gourds. However, hard shell gourds can be made into incredible works of art with a few tools and a good imagination. In this presentation, you will learn about the different types of hard-shell gourds, how they are grown, and what works of art they can become. A variety of gourds will be presented, both unfinished and completed pieces. Some of the various tools will be shown and a brief description of how the finishing touches are applied.

Terry has entered her gourds in numerous competitions and art shows, as well as teaching classes and workshops for beginners through advanced gourd enthusiasts. She is also a fiber artist and an avid gardener with an emphasis on herbs.
